Adam Poulson, Senior External Affairs Manager, Driver Vehicle Standards Agency

Adam Poulson is a Senior External Affairs Manager for the Driver Vehicle Standards Agency. The DVSA is responsible for carrying out driving tests, approves people to be driving instructors and MOT testers, carries out tests to make sure lorries and buses are safe to drive, carries out roadside checks on drivers and vehicles, and monitors vehicle recalls. He is responsible for  taking a lead approach to strengthen existing relationships and developing new strategic partnerships with stakeholder organisations

He has over 11-years’ experience with the Ministry of Defence (MOD), five of those as a heavy vehicle goods and armament technician with a volunteered six-month secondment to support operations in Camp Bastion, Afghanistan. The remaining six years were spent working as an operations manager, again for the MOD based in Abbey Wood, Bristol.

Adam held two roles in his time with the MOD, the first managing a fleet of Amphibious Ferrying Bridging Vehicles, the second managing Operational Temporary Working infrastructure for fixed/rotary wing airframes and unmanned air vehicles.
