Deirdre Sinnott McFeat is program lead for the work related vehicle risk management national program (workplace transport safety, work related road safety, driving for work, load securing and transport & storage sector) at the Health and Safety Authority of Ireland.

With 20+ years of occupational risk management, risk prevention, policy development and enforcement experience, she is a transport and vehicle risk management expert, influencer and innovative policy maker.

Deirdre works closely with primary EU, regulatory and industry stakeholders in the road safety, roads policing and occupational health and safety fields, to influence a sustainable reduction in work related vehicle injuries in all work sectors - both in the workplace and on the road. She currently specialises in the following risk management areas: driving for work, load securing, workplace vehicles, transport & logistics, warehousing, forklifts, work related road risk, and vehicle maintenance and repair.

Presentation: How to improve van safety in urban environments - an Irish perspective
Road collisions are now known as a major cause of worker deaths. With the recent explosion in van fleets used for ensuring our goods and services are delivered, particularly last mile deliveries, this presentation will focus on key van fleet risk management challenges, how to improve road safety for van drivers and how van transport impacts road safety in urban environments in particular.

The speaker will suggest key areas of focus for employers and fleet managers to ensure van fleet risk is effectively managed to reduce risk to van drivers and those they come into contact with in their day to day work.
